Golden Shores continues tradition with 19th annual Loyalty Day Parade

GOLDEN SHORES -- People around the Tri-state area continued the tradition and converged on Route 66 in Golden Shores for the 19th annual Loyalty Day Parade on Saturday, April 17.

Hosted by Brigadier General Clifford H. Shuey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6306, the day-long event included the parade and entertainment by the Acme Chord Company, followed by a pit barbecue.

Although attendance was down compared to the 2003 event, a crowd estimated at around 1,000 people lined the Golden Shores portion of historic Route 66 under clear skies and seasonal temperatures to show their loyalty and celebrate America.

The parade included: American Legion #87 Color Guard and Auxiliary; Miss Poppy Summer LaFrance, Miss VFW B.J. Boyer, VFW Patriots Pen essay winner Nicole Boveri; Sabrina Coker as the Statue of Liberty; Grand Marshal Frank Page and wife Linda; VFW Dist. 8 Commander Fred Stilt and Auxiliary President Lynne Gotshall; Fort Mojave Tribal Marching Band; VFW 6306 Commander Jake Jacobs and Auxiliary President Jeannie LaFrance; MOC-MOCA Pup Tent 777 -- Slot Junkies; Pearl Harbor Survivors Association; VFW 10005 Auxiliary, led by Lee Bias; Purple Heart Association; Colorado River Chapter of the 1st Marine Division Association; Mohave Branch 260 Fleet Reserve Association; Topock Elementary School Drama Club; Needles High School Marching Band; Golden Shores Chamber of Commerce/Miss Golden Shores 2004 Shaylin Berryman; San Bernardino County Sheriff Dept.; Mohave Valley Mime Troop; Bank One -- Mohave Valley; Knights of Columbus Black Mountains Assembly 2476; Mohave County Sheriff's DARE; Topock Elementary School students of the month; Kingman Shrine Club; CERT of Golden Shores; Golden Shores Women's Club; Check into Cash; Mohave High School Thunder Marching Band; Bill Strandberg; Oien Antiques, Junk and Treasures; Senior Steppers; Bullhead City Police Department; Golden Shores Off-Roaders; Golden Shores Baptist Church; River Cruizers; Ruby Brittany and kids; and the Golden Shores Fire Department.
