Bullhead mall gets 1st tenants; Target, Kohl's, Office Depot open in two-week period

News West

BULLHEAD CITY - It's a shopper's paradise. For possibly the first time, three major national chain stores opened in Bullhead City at the same time.

Most new stores began with what they call a “soft opening,” meaning a quiet opening with little or no fanfare. A few days later, they held their grand openings.

Office Depot was the first to open at its Riverview Mall location in the old Albertsons building, 2350 Miracle Mile. It was followed by a grand opening.

Target opened next at its Mohave Crossroads location, 3699 Highway 95. Kohl's, also located at Mohave Crossroads, had its grand opening March 13.

“It's been a memorable two weeks,” said Bullhead City Mayor Jack Hakim Thursday, referring to “the caliber of businesses that have come to our city.”

The stores are now part of the city's identity, Hakim said.

“We thank Mohave Crossroads for believing in our city,” he said, “and turning this once barren landscape into a first-class shopping center.”

Cold Stone coming to BHC

Cold Stone Creamery is the latest businesses to sign up with Mohave Crossroads. The Scottsdale-based ice cream chain has 1,400 stores worldwide.

It will open a 1,500-square-foot facility at Mohave Crossroads probably sometime this fall, according to Lance Sherwood, development manager for Weingarten Realty Investors.

The store joins the recently opened Target and Kohl's in the shopping center on Highway 95 at the southern terminus of the Bullhead Parkway.

Other businesses that will eventually be opening in Mohave Crossroads include Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond, Ross, PetSmart, Staples, Lane Bryant, Famous Footwear, Fashion Bug and Anchor Blue.

Negotiations are currently under way with another five businesses, including restaurants and shops, Sherwood said.
