MOHAVE VALLEY - With nine properties under development, Hoover Quality Homes Chief Operating Officer Charles “Brad” Hoover is one of the most active home builders on The River.

With the exception of El Rio most of them are relatively small, but in a constant state of growth.

The Villas, a 45-home development for people over 55, are under expansion with 33 new homes slated to be added.

Most of the new homes will be company's popular “San Carlos” model.

“It's the most popular model we have,” Hoover said. “We'll build in the new area four houses at a time.”

As they do so, Hoover will add to his own neighborhood since he himself lives at The Villas.

“My brother, John, has a San Juan model,” Hoover added.

Jeff Lopez, project manager for Hoover Quality Homes, is getting another project underway at Mesa Verde.

There will be 31 new homes built on 7 1/2 acres in that project.

“In the next 60 to 90 days we'll get in the utilities,” Lopez said. “There will be mostly San Carlos models. You don't reinvent the wheel. You build what sells.”

But, the $250,000 market isn‘t the only thing Hoover is looking at. He recognizes that not everyone is going to be able to afford the upscale housing that is the popular style in the are now.

At Sonora and Los Altos, Hoover is building to fill another niche.

“We're looking at high density condominiums. A thousand to 1,200 square foot townhomes,” Hoover said.

The Sonoran development will be 10 acres of condos and the Los Altos plot will have 60 townhomes.

“The utilities are already platted. There was a subdivision here that ran out of money,” Hoover said. “We want the community to look aesthetically pleasing, but we want affordable housing.

“There will be a huge need for affordable housing in the community in the future.”
